We opened J-Hoppers Takayama in May, 2009. A former Ryokan was remodeled to a Japanese style Hostel equipped with timbered roomy dorm beds.
The big appeal of the hostel is personal spaces in dorm rooms. It is about 40% more than an ordinary dorm bed. You can always keep your luggage at hand even you are on the top bunk. Most private rooms are Japanese style and also larger than normal hostel private rooms. You can enjoy traditional Japanese tatami mats, shoji paper windows and fusuma closets. We are not only close to the station but also close to major tourist places.
