This luxurious ryokan was established in 1872. 29 Japanese style guest rooms are located in various private cottages. A wooden bridge leads to the guest rooms which overlook either the Katsura River or the courtyard with its large pond full of carp. The outstanding Tempyo Bathhouse designed by the celebrated painting artist, Yukihiko Yasuda, was built in 1934 by the 8th century architectural style. The traditional Japanese cuisine kaiseki served in the guest rooms features local fresh seafood and vegetable of each season.
