About Nara

Nara Prefecture is where Tenpyo culture flourished 1300 years ago in Japan's ancient capital Heijo-kyo, the end point of the Silk Road. It has the most world cultural heritage sites and buildings designated national treasures, such as the Buddhist monuments in the Horyu Temple area. It is also known for Yamato Tea and Asuka Ruby strawberries. The capital city, Nara, is famous for Todaiji Temple which houses the Daibutsu, mountain burning on Mt. Wakakusayama, and Nara Park, home to 1200 deer.
