1904年にニューヨークで、参政権のない女性労働者が労働条件の改善を要求してデモを起こしたことがきっかけとなって国連によって制定された記念日です。ネパールやアンゴラなどの世界26ヶ国は祝日として制定しているようです。

また、イタリアでは“フェスタ・デラ・ドンナ（女性の日）”として男性が女性に日頃の感謝の気持ちを込めてミモザという黄色い花を贈る“ミモザの日”とされております。

Did you know that March 8 is International Women's Day?
It is established by the United Nations in 1904 as a commemoration day when women workers without suffrage demonstrated in New York City demanding better working conditions.
26 countries around the world, including Nepal and Angola, have established it as a national holiday.

In Italy, "Festa della Donna (Women's Day)" is celebrated as "Mimosa Day," when men give yellow mimosa flowers to women as a token of their gratitude.

ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Narita has been celebrating the "Mimosa Day" since October 7 last year, wishing our hotel a successful and sustainable human resource development in the future.
We planted mimosa trees in open spaces by our main entrance.
The tree is still small, having been planted only last year, but the whole team watches over it as it continues to grow.
Please look for the mimosa flowers when you visit the hotel.
