Dark Matters
Venue: Former Daisan Elementary School at Kaoru Murakami exhibition space (entrance fee 1000yen)
Brightness and darkness are not opposites but exist as alternate aspects of light. Light allows us to perceive the physical world around us to varying degrees. In darkness, the absence of light, with limited visual perception, our imagination is awakened to allow us to give meaning to what we cannot see. This is the moment when memories resurface to fill the blank spaces. Forgotten experiences, fears, secrets, resurface as a photograph of our own inner landscapes.
Inspired Kaoru Murakami’s‘Bulb Cities’ Installation, Dominique will create a site-specific performance for Nakanojo Biennale exploring the concept of ‘darkness as a space of inner landscapes’.

There are scenes that don't change,
Historical Onsen towns, mountain villages with a silk industry,
Wooden school buildings stuck in time.
Everywhere becomes the stage for our journey with art.
