The places where the tree top meet the world.
“Chi-za”
Trees which hang down are “Mizuki” but called “Mizubusa” here. Mizubusa tree is used for New Year’s decorations and is very much a part of people’s life. It’s not suitable for building materials as it contains water but it’s used for a purification ceremony because of its water. I often use water for my work so I’m hoping that this tree will become a bridge between my work and this land. The reason I put water under the floor is to express the encounter of branches hanging towards the ground and branches spread over the sky.
Branches can be the root growing towards the sky, roots are the branches spread towards the ground. I believe there is another world where they meet.

There are scenes that don't change,
Historical Onsen towns, mountain villages with a silk industry,
Wooden school buildings stuck in time.
Everywhere becomes the stage for our journey with art.
