Have you ever read the Christmas article of "the Sun"??
Virginia,whose father used to read the newspaper.
One day,she asked a question to her dad"Is there a Santa Clause?"
Dad told her that the anser was in the newspaper.
So, she wrote to the editor of the Sun.
The anser was....
That was about as long as 100 years ago,but still now the article makes us really happy.

今から100年以上も前の話ですが、アメリカで新聞社の記者に宛てた女の子からの手紙が話題を呼びました。
『サンタクロースはいるの？』
”The Sun"というその新聞の読者であった彼女のお父さんがその質問に対して『新聞でそう言ってたらそうだよ』と答えたのがきっかけとなり、8歳の彼女は勇気を振り絞ってペンを握ったのです。
彼女の名前はヴァージニア・オハンロン。
1897年の秋に届いた彼女の素朴な疑問に対する記者の答えは愛情と優しさに溢れ、新聞が廃刊になる1949年まで毎年クリスマスに掲載されました。
写真は前回紹介した日暮里のクリスマスツリーのぬいぐるみ、子供達に配られる日を今か今かと待っています。
