About Fukui

Fukui Prefecture's tasty local sake is made with the renowned water of the Okuetsu region. There are the famous local fish dishes mackerel sushi and mackerel in salted rice-bran paste, and the traditional crafts Echizen pottery and Wakasanuri lacquer. Visitors to the capital city of Fukui can enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms along the Asuwa riverbank and follow the traces of Warring States period warlords Asakura and Shibata. The Fukui Phoenix Festival fireworks (August) are a sight to behold.
